[Windows/macOS] Scanned images are not merged automatically

Did you scan a document folded in half whose paper size is A3, B4, or double letter size in a double-page spread?

Scanned images are merged automatically only when the paper size of the document folded in half is A3, B4, or Double Letter size in a double-page spread.

Perform one of the following:

  • Use the page merge function in ScanSnap Home to merge the scanned images

    For details, refer to here in the ScanSnap Help.

  • Use the optional Carrier Sheet, and try scanning again

    For details, refer to here in the ScanSnap Help.

Are there any characters, figures, or tables on the fold line of the document folded in half?

Scanned images are merged automatically only when there are characters, figures, or tables on the fold line of the document folded in half.

Document Whose Scanned Images Are Merged Automatically

Perform one of the following:

  • Use the page merge function in ScanSnap Home to merge the scanned images

    For details, refer to here in the ScanSnap Help.

  • Use the optional Carrier Sheet, and try scanning again

    For details, refer to here in the ScanSnap Help.

Have you selected [Manual scan (Front/Back merging)] for the feed setting?

Configure [Manual scan (Front/Back merging)] for the feed setting in the following procedure, and then try scanning again.

  1. On the touch panel of the ScanSnap, select the profile that you are using from the profile list in the home screen.

  2. Press the arrow at the bottom of the touch panel to display the scan settings.

  3. Press the feed icon and configure [Manual scan (Front/Back merging)] for the feed setting.

If you change the scan settings on the touch panel and scan a document, after it is scanned, the scan settings will return back to the settings before any changes are made. If you want to scan documents under the same settings all the time, the scan settings need to be saved as a profile.

Have you selected [Simplex] in the scan settings?

Try scanning again after changing the scanning side to [Duplex] by following the procedure below:

  1. On the touch panel of the ScanSnap, select the profile that you are using from the profile list in the home screen.

  2. Press the arrow at the bottom of the touch panel to display the scan settings.

  3. Press the scanning side icon and change the scanning side to [Duplex].

When you scan a document with a profile that is configured to detect a document type automatically, display the scan window of ScanSnap Home on the computer and change the settings. If you change the scan settings on the touch panel or in the scan window and scan a document, after it is scanned, the scan settings will return back to the settings before any changes were made. If you want to scan documents under the same settings all the time, the scan settings need to be saved as a profile.

Did you configure the scan settings to merge the front and back sides of the document at a fixed position?

Try scanning again after changing the scan settings to merge the front and back sides of the document at a fixed position in the following procedure:

  1. Display the scan window of ScanSnap Home on the computer.

  2. Select the profile that you are using from the profile list.

  3. Click the [Edit profiles] button to display the [Edit profiles] window.

  4. Click the [Option] button for [Feed] to display the [Feed option] window.

  5. Click the [Merge options] button to display the [Merge options] window.

  6. Select the [If automatic merging fails, always merge at a fixed position] checkbox to set the position at which the image will be merged.
