[iOS/Android] Connection to the ScanSnap cannot be established during setup

Is the Wi-Fi switch of the ScanSnap turned off?

Turn on the Wi-Fi switch of the ScanSnap.

Is the password for the wireless access point correct?

Check what the correct password is.

A password is referred to as an encryption key or a cryptography key depending on the wireless access point that is in use. Usually, the network name (SSID) and the password are on the side or the bottom of a wireless access point device.

For details about the value to be entered, refer to your wireless access point manual.

If you do not know the password for the wireless access point, contact your network administrator.

Has the number of units connected to the wireless access point exceeded the upper limit?

Disconnect other devices connected to the wireless access point.

The upper limit of the number of units that can be connected varies depending on the wireless access point that is in use.

For details, refer to the manual of your wireless access point.

Is the privacy separator function of the wireless access point enabled?

Disable the privacy separator function.

Depending on the wireless access point such as a mobile router, the privacy separator function of the wireless access point may be enabled.

Is the mobile device you want to connect to the ScanSnap displaying a screen other than the ScanSnap Home screen?

Do not switch the ScanSnap Home screen to another other screen on the mobile device while you are connecting the mobile device to the ScanSnap.

Did you perform the setup again, with the ScanSnap on after failing to connect to the ScanSnap?

If establishing a connection with the ScanSnap fails, perform the following:

1. Close the ADF paper chute (cover) to turn off the ScanSnap.

2. Check that the mobile device is connected to a wireless access point which is to be set for the ScanSnap.

3. Set up the ScanSnap again.

Is the Wi-Fi indicator lit or flashing in orange?

• The signal between the wireless access point and the ScanSnap is weak, or there may be some signal interference.

  Move the ScanSnap and the wireless access point to different locations.

  • Move the ScanSnap closer to the wireless access point.

  • Move the ScanSnap and the wireless access point away from the following items:

    • Obstacles that may block the signal (for example, walls and metal boards)
    • Devices that may cause signal interference (for example, microwaves and cordless phones) and wireless devices

  • Change the direction of the ScanSnap.

  Also, communication in certain wireless channels may become unstable due to signal interference such as noise.

  Change the value of the wireless channel on the wireless access point.

• Use ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool to check whether the default Wi-Fi settings are restored.

Are the ScanSnap and wireless access point distant from each other? Also, is there anything that may block the signal (such as walls and metal boards), or an electromagnetic source?

The signal between the wireless access point and the ScanSnap is weak, or there may be some signal interference.

From in ScanSnap Home, tap [Scanner] to display the [Scanner] screen. Check the signal status in [Signal strength] in the Scanner information screen, which is displayed by tapping the scanner name at the top of the [Scanner] screen.

If the signal status is not fine, move the ScanSnap and the wireless access point to different locations.

• Move the ScanSnap closer to the wireless access point.

• Move the ScanSnap and the wireless access point away from the following items:

  • Obstacles that may block the signal (for example, walls and metal boards)
  • Devices that may cause signal interference (for example, microwaves and cordless phones) and wireless devices

• Change the direction of the ScanSnap.

Also, communication in certain wireless channels may become unstable due to signal interference such as noise.

Change the value of the wireless channel on the wireless access point.
